On Friday, October 11, 2019 members of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Alliance Road community of Jackson County. Previously members of the Sheriff’s Office received numerous citizen complaints about transient workers that entered Jackson County after Hurricane Michael posing as workers that had implanted themselves in the residence and refused to leave against the homeowner’s instructions. It was also determined that the workers had been responsible for multiple thefts in and around Jackson County. One of the worker’s, currently lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility, provided information to Law Enforcement that one of the others currently had an outstanding warrant. Upon arriving at the residence, Investigators obtained consent to search the residence and its curtilage for any stolen property. Upon conducting a safety sweep of the residence, Wayne Fennell aka “Frog”, was located in a back bedroom. Fennell was previously known to have an outstanding Violation of Probation warrant out of Palm Beach County, FL. Fennell was taken into custody without incident. Located in the backyard, near an exterior door leading to the room Fennell was found sleeping, was a Polaris side by side UTV that had been spray painted and attempted to have been concealed. The UTV was determined to be stolen out of Jackson County. A farming implement was also recovered that the homeowner suspected had been stolen. Fennell was cooperative with Law Enforcement and additional arrests are forthcoming as a result of the information obtained.

Sheriff Roberts and his staff are committed to providing safety for the public and their property and would like to encourage the community to report any suspicious activity and/or violations that they may observe to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 850-482-9624.
