NHC has been monitoring a disturbance in the Bay of Campeche and a Tropical Depression is likely to form late in the week. As of 2 PM ET Monday, there is currently a 70% chance of tropical cyclone development in the next 5 days with the system.

It's too early to discuss track and impacts in depth, however, much of the current guidance does bring the potential system northward. If that were to occur, we'll need to continue to monitor for potential impacts, particularly heavy rain.

In addition, there is increasing confidence in a high risk of rip currents beginning as early as Thursday for the Gulf breaches as this system potentially moves northward.
