On October 24, 2020 during the late afternoon hours, Jackson County Sheriff Deputies responded a residence in Cypress located on Church Street regarding a physical altercation. It was alleged the female subject had been attacked by her boyfriend and was going to need an ambulance.
Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with the victim who stated Trevor Phillmon had attacked her and then left. The female had an injured shoulder, which was visibly swelling while speaking with law enforcement, and bite marks. The female subject stated he had just left in a vehicle and prior to leaving threatened her with a firearm.
As the investigation continued, the vehicle Phillmon left driving was located nearby on Main Street parked behind a residence. Deputies attempted to make contact with Phillmon and while announcing their presence could hear movement within the residence. It was unknown if Phillmon was still armed with the firearm at this point. A subject who had been communicating with two individuals inside the residence provided a phone number where Deputies made contact with Phillmon. Deputies were then able to communicate with Phillmon and convince him to exit the residence without incident. Also in the residence with Phillmon was a subject identified as Tillman McCroan. McCroan had an active Felony warrant out of Jackson County, Florida on the charge of violation of probation for burglary and possession of methamphetamine.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, in which Phillmon fled from the residence, a loaded .45 caliber pistol was located under the driver’s seat of the vehicle. A check of Phillmon’s criminal history returned he was a convicted felon. Deputies spoke with Phillmon about the allegations against him, to which his recollection of the events were opposite from the victim and witnesses. Phillmon also denied knowing anything about the firearm nor ever had a firearm during the altercation.
At the conclusion of the incident McCroan was placed under arrest for the active felony warrant and Phillmon was placed under arrest on several felony charges from the investigation.
Sheriff Lou Roberts would like to thank the Florida Highway Patrol and Sneads Police Department for their assistance during this incident.
