The main impacts will be tonight through Sunday, although marine/beach hazards are expected today.
Tropical Storm Warnings have been extended to the Okaloosa/Walton County line. Total rainfall amounts have increased across the Florida Panhandle, southeast Alabama and portions of southwest Georgia - a Flash Flood Watch has been issued for that region. The Storm Prediction Center has included us in a marginal risk on Saturday and Sunday - the threat with this is a few tornadoes.
Overview:
The forecast track for Potential Tropical Cyclone Three has shifted slightly further east this morning and with this, the Tropical Storm Warning has been extended further east to the Okaloosa/Walton County line. While the warning remains west of our area, a few gusts to 35-40 mph along the coast cannot be ruled out. In addition, depending on future updates, it's possible that the Tropical Storm Warning may need to be extended further east later today.
Impacts:
Heavy rain is expected with this system and rainfall amounts have increased across the Florida Panhandle, southeast Alabama and portions of southwest Georgia. Given some of the higher amounts, a Flash Flood Watch was issued for this region which is in effect from tonight through Sunday. The Storm Prediction Center has included an area from Tallahassee to Albany and west in a marginal risk for Saturday and southwest Georgia in a marginal risk for Sunday. A few tornadoes will be possible in these areas. In addition, increased winds and seas are expected and a Small Craft Advisory was issued for our costal waters from Apalachicola westward. Rough surf and dangerous rip currents are expected at area beaches.
