HENRY COUNTY - EDWIN:     7:45 PM.   Henry County 911 dispatched emergency units to County Road 54 to a vehicle verses a pedestrian accident.


Henry County 54 is in the northern end of Henry County.


Henry County Sheriff Department, Abbeville Rescue, ALEA - Troopers responded to the scene.


The pedestrian was transported, emergency trauma alert, to the hospital. Reports are CPR was in progress.


ALEA - Troopers are in charge of the accident investigation. ALEA Traffic Homicide Investigators have been dispatched. At this time it is not confirmed a fatality. It is stand operating procedures on serious/critical injury accidents to respond traffic homicide investigators for more extensive investigations.

Shortly after arrival at Southeast Health the victim of the accident was pronounced dead.


Henry County Coroner Derek Wright was notified and responded to Southeast Health. The victim of the accident was identified as 26 year old Douglas Brown of Montgomery.


Brown and his family owned land in Edwin. He was here spending time with his grandparents. While riding a four wheeler something caused him to stop and he was struck by a motor vehicle.


After impact reports are he got into the truck and then slumped over. A call to 911 and Abbeville Rescue responded and all that could be done was done to save his life.


Douglas Brown just graduated from Tuskegee and was set for a interview in Tallahassee with the Florida Forestry Commission, of which he was very excited. He is described as a very nice and polite young man.


A sad accident. Prayers are with the family.
