Survival Flight is in the air with the patient. They just reported about a 4 minute arrival time to the landing pad at Southeast Health.
Pilcher Ambulance has a ambulance waiting at the landing pad to transport the patient from the helicopter to the emergency department.
Survival Flight Medics are trained and licensed to administer a higher level of treatment than paramedics. In fact they have the training and license to shut down your breathing and take it over for you.
They are dispatched on serious accident because their flight times are faster than ground travel times. They will also ride in the ambulance for ground transport if for some reason the patients condition will not allow flight but the higher level of treatment provider is needed.

Choctawhatchee Volunteer Fire Department also responded. Dale County Commissioner Frankie Wilson volunteers his time with the volunteer fire department and responded. Or at least the voice on the radio sounded like Commissioner Wilson.
