GORDON:     09:10 AM.     AT THIS TIME, Gordon Police in pursuit.

The chase was west bound and Highway 84 then turned East. At 09:11 AM they are east bound passing County Road 81.

Ashford Police joined Gordon. Three Houston County Sheriff Deputies are rolling that way from Cowarts.

At 09:12 AM Ashford Police stated subject down and fleeing on foot. The Ashford Police unit did not give a specific location as he jumped from vehicle to chase the suspect down.

At 9:14 AM GORDON police said subject wrecked out on his own on running towards Tifton on side of Highway 84. It is a Georgia license plate.

The subject has a back pack on as he is running.

Gordon Police said white male, long sleeve bluish red button up shirt. Appears to be behind some houses.

09:17 AM Houston County Sheriff Patrol Lt. Simmons and two additional deputies on scene. A perimeter is being established and Lt. Simmons instructed deputies to tell homeowners lock doors and keep eye out.

UPDATED @ 09:48 AM.  

The vehicle they were in pursuit of was a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle laid it down in the middle of Highway 84 at Springhill Road.

As of this writing the suspect is still at large. After leaving the motorcycle the subject fled on foot, jumping a barbed wire fence.

Also assisting in the search is Alabama Game and Fish Officer Stacy Lush.

UPDATED @ 10:30 AM.  

The motorcycle was impounded. The subject has not been located. At this time do not know the reason he fled the traffic stop.

UPDATED @ 11:03 PM.    

After a number of sightings of the person who fled Gordon Police today, the subject was taken into custody by both Gordon Police and Houston County Sheriff Deputies.

At 11:20 AM the subject was reported to have been seen on Springhill Road and was spotted in the woods.

After unable with being able to locate, later in the day information was subject was walking along the railroad tracks. Gordon Police and Houston County Sheriff Deputies responded.

Then late this afternoon the suspect went into the Marathon attempting to get a ride to Georgia. Law Enforcement was notified and took the suspect into custody.

The subject was identified as Justin Lee Shellnut of Blakely Georgia. Arrested and taken into custody by Gordon Police Chief Keith Gray and booked into the Houston County Jail. The charges were Attempting To Elude; Reckless Endangerment; Possession of Marijuana.

Shellnut was booked into the Houston County Jail at 7:33 PM and released on bond at 10:25 PM on three $ 500.00 bonds.
