DOTHAN:     It has now become the citizens responsibility of holding your elected officials accountable. And that accountability is NOW and your life could depend on it.

At 11:20 PM both Southeast Health and Flowers Hospital are on critical care diversion.

Rehobeth EMS had a patient in active seizure and called for Dothan Fire Mutual Aid response. Once Dothan Fire was on board they announced to the 911 Center transporting emergency to Southeast Health. The 911 Center announced to the EMS that Southeast Health was on critical care diversion. The EMS unit asked, isn't Flowers Hospital on critical care diversion of which 911 Center replied yes.

The EMS went to Southeast Health despite diversion.

AWFUL PLACE EMS IS PLACED IN  

All EMS are placed in an awful position. They have an emergency patient and attempting to transport to a hospital. But told they are on diversion. And if transport patient there the EMS are asked if a diversion form signed by the patient. What do they do?

DIVERSION NOT FAULT OF HOSPITAL  

Diversion is not the fault of the hospital as far as I can tell as of this writing. It is the fault of a broken down medical system that involves a complete circle.

At the EMS level, collections are about 37% of what is billed. A bill will be turned in for $ 506.00 and Medicare/Medicaid pays $ 44.00 of the bill. How can EMS keep their doors open? 

And you will see future articles on how has the responsibility for EMS.

The same equation of payment to EMS is to the hospital. They do not get paid or they get partial payment. Then they are penalized on readmissions as well as insurance companies telling a doctor the patient did not need to stay in the hospital that long.

But Lord help you if you do not pay the insurance company the full amount of their bill.

TIME TO HOLD ELECTED OFFICIALS ACCOUNTABLE   

From local - state - federal, it is time "WE THE PEOPLE" get on some buttocks of elected officials to solve this crisis. This could be you or your child these diversions affect.

Emergencies do not schedule their time of occurence. I have fought some of the battles to financial penalties myself.  Because the system forced me to use language I should not have. But I got it changed to the best interest of the person calling 911.

And one of those "accountable" was the one complaining on me. If the elected officials do their jobs, fight for what is right, roll their sleeves up and look for solutions, perhaps you or your family member will have chances.

But when you are EMS or an employee of the medical facilities, what do you do when both hospitals are on diversion.

If you are the hospital, and in charge, what do you do when at capacity? And the State of Alabama and feds have mandates against you.

One EMS provider in November 2019 transported a patient. The insurance provider, Blue Cross, sent back for more documentation before they pay the bill. Now in February 2020 and the bill still has not been paid.

Then Montgomery leadership makes excuses on Medicare and Medicaid. All the while EMS and healthcare providers are suffering in financial stability in order to provide medical services.

Elected Officials - you want to say you are going to hold people accountable even if not popular. Well, Rickey Stokes has done that for years and past and present make people mad and upset.

While you were asleep and I was still working at 11:37 PM, and you were a big shot today because you feel like "somebody", why don't you roll up your sleeves and dive in and try and save lives? Instead of being a big shot and being critical of those who do make positive changes in order to save lives.

In closing, for the record, RICKEY STOKES does not hate anyone. RICKEY STOKES does not have hate or bitterness in my heart. Because I call people out, most especially leadership when negligent, does not mean that RICKEY STOKES is a "hater". 

You roll up your sleeves and work, make things happen and solve issues that affect people's lives. 

The time is here folks. Time for elected officials to stop poking their lips out and being finished with people, grow up, and solve issues that affect people's lives.

NOTE:    What I have described about the diversion, is true and correct. Currently in Dothan Alabama both hospitals are on critical care diversion. What I described happened to Rehobeth EMS and Dothan Fire Engine 2. And as I am posting Ashford Rescue has just been dispatched to a medical emergency.

So I am not just typing. And the elected officials needing to be held accountable. Well one runs his mouth about holding people accountable...it is time for him to be accountable...and honest!
