HOUSTON COUNTY: 8:52 pm Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched a motor vehicle accident with injuries and entrappment, Highway 52 East, East of Ludlum Road intersection. This is east of the old WTVY-TV building.
The persons reporting to 911 stated persons were entrapped and multiple people in the vehicle. Additional persons reporting to 911 stated five people were in the vehicle and several entrapped.
Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Houston County Sheriff Deputies, ALEA - Troopers, Webb Volunteer Fire, Columbia Rescue.
With five injuries Columbia Rescue requested Ashford Rescue and Headland Fire - Rescue be dispatched.
A combined group effort of EMS, Fire and Law Enforcement had to take chain saws and cut a tree from the vehicle and the top from the vehicle to remove some of the entrapped patients. All working with the main goal - PATIENT CARE.
Columbia, Headland and Ashford EMS units transported patients. While one patient is reported critical at this time none appear to have life threatening injuries.
Houston County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jeff Carlisle responded. Traffic on Highway 52 was detoured for a period of time.
ALEA - Troopers are in charge of the accident investigation.
