OZARK:   11:49 PM   Ozark - Dale County 911 dispatched Ozark Officers to a suicide threats on Briar Hills Court in Ozark. Time dispatched was about 9:52 PM.

TEXT RICKEY STOKES  334-790-1729 received text messages at 10:00 PM that read as follows: "possible shooting on Briar Hill Court. Heard multiple shots. Cops pulling up on the scene now".

Within seconds of text messages of shots fired was received, RSN received reports of " OFFICER DOWN ", shot multiple times, suspect down, a second ambulance is needed.

Multiple Ozark Police units, Dale County Sheriff Deputies, ALEA - Troopers were rolling.

The officer was transported by Ozark EMS from the corner of Briar Hills and College Street to Dale Medical Center. Not sure if the suspect was transported or dead on the scene. But RSN has confirmed the suspected shooter is deceased.

The officer was then transported to Southeast Health by Ozark EMS under multiple police, Sheriff and ALEA-Trooper escort. Both Houston County Sheriff Department and Dothan Police units blocked intersections as the ambulance was transporting the Ozark Police Officer to the hospital.

Prior to the ambulance transporting the officer, a officer transported the officers wife from Ozark to Dothan to await the arrival of her husband.

The Ozark Police Officer is in critical condition. The officer has suffered at least three gunshot wounds.

ALEA - Trooper Colonel Charles Ward is on the scene in Ozark. ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor dispatched SBI ( State Bureau of Investigation Agents ) to the scene in Ozark to assist Ozark Police Department in the investigation.

Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza contacted Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson to see if any of his deputies were needed on the scene in Ozark. Sheriff Olson reported they were covered. Sheriff Valenza went to Southeast Health to await the arrival of the officer which was shot, other officers and family. Sheriff Valenza also notified counselors which are part of the law enforcement support group for any fellow officers at the hospital.

Rickey Stokes has been in Ozark since shortly after the shooting. We have waited until now attempting to make sure the family was notified before breaking this story. RSN never wants a family to be notified via the web site. We had rather be compassionate then first.

Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker asked SBI ( State Bureau of investigation ) to take over the investigation. ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor has instructed SBI to take charge of the investigation.

SBI Crime Scene Investigators and Crime Scene Unit vehicles are on the scene.

Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox and Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton have sent Deputies to assist Ozark Police and Dale County Sheriff Department in answering calls in Ozark and Dale County.

This is a time that all brotherhood and sisterhood of agencies band together.

The scene is marked off by crime scene tape. There are a number of evidence markers on the roadway which indicates evidence located and marked. Most scenes of this nature they indicate shell casings.

UNCONFIRMED - but sources say this is a suicide by cop. This means the suspect shooter of the officer wanted to die but wanted to be killed by a law enforcement officer. Therefore as the officer arrived he was ambushed and never given a chance what so ever.

Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker was on the scene of Southeast Health with the officer. Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms, multiple law enforcement agency heads and officers were located at the hospital.

The Ozark Officer is in the neuro intensive care unit at Southeast Health. The officer is in critical condition.

UNCONFIRMED the suspected shooter was known to law enforcement. As the officer exited the Ozark Patrol vehicle the suspected shooter opened fire on the primary patrol officer. The second officer on the scene returned gunfire on the suspected shooter and eliminated the threat.

UNCONFIRMED the suspect was armed with a .357 rifle and what the suspect shot the Ozark Officer with.

The PEER SUPPORT Group, Dr. Faulk, Sheriff Chaplin, SBI Peer Support, Sheriff PEER Support, Dothan Police PEER Support were on the scene of the hospital to minister to the Ozark Officers.

PRAY for the officer shot, his fellow officers, the officer's wife who is expecting a child, and Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker. 

At this time the officer's name nor the suspect name is being released.

The officers that was shot has been identified as Officer Samuel Yoh.
