DOTHAN:

DOTHAN MAYOR MARK SALIBA

COMMISSIONER DORSEY, FLEMING AND CRUTCHFIELD

Well, And Albert...

A very high compliment to Dothan Commissioners John Ferguson and Commissioner Beth Kenward.

And where is Kevin Dorsey? Janesky Fleming? David Crutchfield?

And Albert Kirkland does not have a clue that he is even a Dothan Commissioner! Don’t choke me though Albert.

Today was the Dothan Commission work session, I guess. The proposed budget was discussed. But the pay raise package presented by Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish was not considered.

Parrish presented a pay package increase when other department heads did not. The department has a difficult time in retention of law enforcement officers and 911 staff.

In the results of that planning session the top 3 priorities of the City of Dothan Commission included pay raises for Dothan Police Officers.

In A WTVY article Ferguson and Kenward spoke up for the law enforcement officers while Saliba gave a political answer.

Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba also appreciates the challenges police officers face. However, he points out the 950 other city workers are also important.

“We can’t do anything that lifts one (position) up and brings down the spirit of others. So, we need to take into consideration all of our employees,” he said.

While I appreciate the fact of the other 950 employees.

Mayor, Kevin, Janesky, David, Albert - every department head a chance to submit an analysis and a plan.

But Personnel Director Delvick McKay and Dothan City Manager Mike West told them not to.

But being the leader he is, and seeing the problems now and into the future, Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish was the only department head to submit a plan.

Chief Parrish knew the asset to the protection and safety of the City of Dothan, seeing the current retention and application problems, Chief Parrish has attempted to be ahead of the problems rather than playing catch up.

The results, then, of the planning session the Dothan City Commission spends several thousands of dollars on, the pay raises within the police department was one of the top 3 priorities.

But Mayor, you,Kevin-Janesky, David ( Albert don’t answer ) have been called by other Dothan workforce of why they were not included.

So rather then kick the responsibility back to where it is, such as your department head failed to submit a plan, you take the road of ignoring one of the top 3 priorities each of you made.

YOU WANT A POLICE OFFICER TO SEARCH EVERYONE BEFORE COMING INTO A DOTHAN COMMISSION MEETING AND EXPECT THAT LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER TO STEP IN FRONT OF A GUNMAN TO PROTECT YOU...

You want Dothan Police Officers to place their lives in danger, jump in front of you, take the bullet intended for you. You wimps get to go home but the law enforcement officer goes to the morgue. Because he or she put others lives before self.

LOOK AT THE COURAGE OF A DOTHAN POLICE OFFICER RECENTLY IN CHASING AND APPREHENDING A ONE MAN ROBBING, SHOOTING, KIDNAPPING, MURDER SUSPECT...AND HE WAS RIGHT BY HIMSELF

A Dothan Police Officer squared off with a man on Ross Clark Circle to stop the robbing, kidnapping, thefts and death of destruction. The only protection the Dothan Police Officer had was the bullet proof vest while he literally chased the suspect on foot. If the man had turned on the officer to fire his weapon, the officers only luck to not be seriously injured, was the bullet proof vest.

Looking around, other than Dothan Fireman, where were the other 950 employees.

Mayor Saliba you say "we can’t do anything that lifts one position up and brings down the spirit of others". What are you going to do when one of those "positions" is that law enforcement officer who has paid the ultimate sacrifice as you "lowered" him or her into the ground?

Not saying any other position in the City of Dothan government is more important then the others.

But the law enforcement officers are on the front line of the safety in Police and Communications. And the Fire Department places their life on the line.

Your answer is not acceptable nor consistent with the priorities of the planning session you had.

The police department should pull all law enforcement protection from your commission meetings. And not worry about the protection.

This should be addressed.

David, Janesky, Kevin...stop your lock jaw and tell the Mayor and  the City Manager...this will be in the budget NOW.

To the other 950, if your department head failed to submit a plan. That is not the fault of Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish and members of the Dothan Police Department.

Mayor, you and the commission are suppose to men of your word. Ferguson and the one lady on the Commission were.

Why were ya’ll not?

The response viewed on WTVY was not sufficient.
