DOTHAN: Dothan Police attempted to stop a vehicle when it took off. Police chased the vehicle out Denton Road until the driver wrecked out by rolling over his vehicle. Dothan Fire responded due to the suspect being injured and possibly entrapped in the vehicle.
The suspect wrecked out and struck a power pole at Denton and Vista Grande. The power pole and wires are still standing but the guide wires are down, The area is closed due to the accident.

The vehicle was reported driving at a speed of 40 MPH. The vehicle was all over the road without lights on.
The Dothan Police Officer had no choice but to continue behind the vehicle. It was a low speed attempt to get the vehicle stopped.
The vehicle traveled out Denton Road, passed Westgate Parkway continuing north on Denton Road. The vehicle passed Flynn Road intersection, still continuing north.
Just north of Vista Grand Drive intersection with Denton the suspect vehicle left the right side of the roadway and overturned. Possibly overturned a couple of times.
The driver of the vehicle was trapped and knocked down power lines.
Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance, under the command of Batallion Chief Stephen Messer, extricated the suspect from the vehicle. The patient was called a trauma alert and transported to Southeast Health.
The power company for this location was notified to respond.
THIS WAS NOT A CHASE. The officer had to remain behind the vehicle because of being all over the roadway without lights before this person killed someone.
Dothan Police in charge of the accident investigation. Dothan Police Officers traveled with the ambulance to the hospital keeping subject in custody.
