DOTHAN: Dothan Police and Dothan Fire responded to a reported edge weapon assault in the 1100 block of Reeves Street.
Reports are a male was on scene bleeding from the neck. Dothan Police were already on scene when the fire department was dispatched.
No word on the suspects location at this time however it is clear where the patient is located.

Preliminary information is this is a result of a man getting between two women fighting. However we have heard the male subject was possibly involved in the altercation between the two women.
The victim of the edged weapon assault to the neck is expected to recover. Possibly just in time to stand trial.

The victim of the edged weapon assault is identified ( not by law enforcement, fire or EMS but via TEXT RICKEY STOKES 334-790-1729 ) as Dentavious Jamal Givens, born in 1994.
Givens in charged with the September 10, 2018 brutal murder of Neal Barber. Givens was released from the Houston County Jail on April 20, 2019 on bond in the amount of $ 150,000.00. The co-defendant arrested for the brutal murder, Jatavion Lakeldrick Collins, age 21, remains in the Houston County Jail under a $ 500,000.00 bond.
The arrest warrant on Givens reads as follows " ...caused the death of Neal Barber with his hands and unknown blunt objects caused severe physical injuries and head trauma which resulted in Neal Barber's death".
Currently the trial date for Givens has been set for November 4, 2019.
