ABBEVILLE: Henry County Sheriff, Abbeville Police and Henry County SWAT team are on the scene of a firearm assault in Abbeville.
No other information is available at this time. We will update when we know more.

The suspect is in custody. The suspect surrendered without incident. The SRT (swat) were doing training and was quick on the scene. All the Henry County Sheriff SWAT was on the scene with in 8 minutes from the time of call.

We have learned the shooting victim was shot in the leg and transported to the hospital with what is described as non life threatening injuries.

On 04/17/2024 at approximately 07:45 pm 911 received a call of a male subject with a gunshot wound to his leg area.
Once EMS and Law Enforcement arrive on scene (100 block of Girard St) they come into contact with a black male victim who was suffering from a gun shot wound to the leg.
Law Enforcement officers received information that the suspect ran inside a nearby residence and was hiding from law enforcement
Law Enforcement negotiated with the suspect to give himself up and minutes later he was taken into custody without further incident
Victim was taken to a Dothan hospital for further treatment of his injuries received in this event.
The suspect is being booked in the Henry County Jail pending further investigation. Special thanks to Henry County Sheriff Office, Abbeville EMS, and the Abbeville Police Department for all their assistance in the event.
