UPDATED at 8:04 PM... Firearm Assault - Kidnapping at 112 Woods Drive

DOTHAN: At 10:31 AM.. Dothan Fire and Dothan Police responded to a report of a firearm assault at 112 Woods Drive. Reports are a black male with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The suspect vehicle was a black Kia passenger car last seen in an unknown direction of travel.
Police are still on the scene and the victim was transported to the hospital with a Trauma Alert.
Dothan Police crime scene investigators are en-route.

The Dothan Police responded to the 100 blk of Woods Drive in reference to a gunshot victim. Once officers arrived, they found a victim with a gunshot wound to the chest and in critical condition. Further investigation reveled that the suspect kicked the door in and shot the victim and kidnapped the victim’s girlfriend. The suspect then fled the scene on a black KIA Rio with Alabama tag number 38HL126.
We are asking for the public’s assistance with help locating these persons or vehicle. If they are seen, call 911 and advise the location. Do not approach, the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. If you have any other information on this call, please contact the non-emergency number at 615-3000.

The victim of the kidnapping has been found and safe. Law Enforcement Officials are with her.
The suspect stopped for gas and the victim was able to flee on the vehicle and law enforcement get to her.
The suspect fled on foot near Taylor Road in Montgomery.
Montgomery Police had K-9's and air units in the area.
Just before 8 PM the suspect was apprehended.
UNCONFIRMED at this time, the victim and suspect had a domestic relationship. An abusive relationship.
The victim had been attempting to leave the relationship and things went full blown out of control.
Dothan Police have been working on this all day. A lot of law enforcement tactics had been on going through the day. Dothan Police Violent Crimes Unit and Dale County Sheriff Air Unit have been involved in the search. Multiple Law Enforcement Agencies have been involved in the successful location of the victim.
Dothan Police Chief Parrish, who has been actively involved in this investigation in working with the investigators will be releasing additional details. Dothan Police Criminal Investigators and Patrol Division have been swamped all day.
Chief Parrish said the combined hard and detailed work between the 911 Center, Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations, and other agencies have brought this case to a success at this time.
