It’s still not a tropical depression, but it could become a hurricane and hit the Gulf Coast in just a few days.
The National Hurricane Center began issuing advisories on what it is calling Potential Tropical Cyclone Two on Wednesday. It is forecasting the storm to become Hurricane Barry by Friday and make landfall on Saturday in Louisiana.
The hurricane center issued a storm surge watch and a tropical storm watch for part of the Louisiana coast and said more tropical storm or hurricane watches could be issued later today or tonight.
