DOTHAN:     01:28 AM      Dothan Police took into custody several juveniles earlier this evening and transported to Dothan Police Patrol Division.

The juveniles were taken into custody from a house party or a field party. Did not hear the original call. Just heard parents coming to pick up juveniles.

When law enforcement take juveniles into custody they are carried to the Patrol Assembly Room of Dothan Police Headquarters. The officers complete paperwork with the juveniles and then walk them into the Jail Docket Room for the completion of other paperwork.

Once that is completed the juveniles are walked back to the Patrol Division by the officer. And then the lovely greeting from their parents, if, their parents are ones who care.  There the parents, juvenile and the law enforcement officer get to talk.

Unless the juvenile is disrespectful and/or history of trouble, and in communication with the Juvenile Probation Officer, the juvenile is normally released to the custody of the parent.

The officer will then sign a Petition with the Juvenile Court and a hearing will be held or a meeting with the Juvenile Probation Officer.

The above described procedure is for those under age 18, unless charged with Driving Under the Influence. Then the juvenile gets a taste of the adult jail.

Those at the field party or house party age 18 and above, they are normally ( UNCONFIRMED in this case ) with Contributing To The Delinquency Of A Minor and Minor In Possession of Alcohol. They get to go into the northside of the Dothan Police Department and booked into jail. They are required to make a bond to appear in court. Their court will be before Dothan Municipal Court Judge while the juvenile will appear before District Court Judge Lori Ingram or Circuit Court Judge Butch Binford.

UPDATED @ 8:35 PM

Last evening when the juveniles were carried into the Dothan Police Department RSN assumed it was concerning a house party or field party.

Today parents called and said it was not.

The juveniles were at the movie. There was some trouble but involved other kids. All of the kids are alleged to have been ordered to leave. They were dependent on parents to pick them up and moved to the McDonald's.

Reports are the officers were unhappy with their decisions following the orders. They took them into custody and transported to the Dothan Police Headquarters.

Often times it is difficult to get all of the facts to report. Most especially when the Patrol Shift Commander on duty it Lt. Jeremy Collins. He and mix like oil and water so I do not waste my time even dealing with an arrogant rear like him.

You know one downfall in taking over a department with the City of Dothan. You have some good employees, and then you have those like Lt. Jeremy Collins. And you are often stuck with them because of the civil service act. He is the weakest link in the Administrative Chain of Dothan Police Department. But stuck with him until he retires.
