War On Law Enforcement Has Arrived HERE

DOTHAN - HEADLAND:     Over the past 7 days in the City of Dothan and the City of Headland, local law enforcement has experienced multiple officers injured in the line of duty.

Last Sunday the chain of events began in the City of Dothan and the City of Headland. 

Two Dothan Officers were injured, one suffering a broken leg and one a broken hand, after responding to a "person down" call. That call is normally to a report of someone laying on the ground for a unknown reason. And those calls the reasons vary from medical, to intoxication, to homeless, and other reasons.

This particular Sunday it was a person on drugs. And immediately he became combative to the officers and attacking the officers. When Dothan Fire arrived the fireman came to the officers rescue until other officers arrived. The Dothan Fireman pulled the officer with a broken leg from the struggle with the suspect.

A person was running from police officers in a vehicle. Dothan Police were not actually in pursuit of the suspect but following the suspect. The suspect rammed two Dothan Police Patrol vehicles. Two officers were treated medically for injuries when the suspect rammed their patrol vehicle.

Headland Police Captain dealt with a person who was unstable at the police department. The subject left the police department and went to a local business. The subject became disorderly and Headland Police were called. Captain Langley responded. The man pulled his shirt off and attacked Captain Langley who in turn tased the subject. He pulled the taser prongs and assaulted Captain Langley and again the taser was deployed as I understand. The exact sequence is not real clear but I am close. The subject fled on foot. Additional officers were called and the subject was taken into custody.

Captain Langley was transported by Headland Rescue to be checked out by medical officials.

This weekend a Dothan Police Officer was assaulted following a traffic stop. The driver was stopped on Third Avenue. The driver fled on foot with the police officer in foot pursuit. The officer caught the driver who caught the driver and a fight took place. The driver assaulted the police officer and fled again. The driver was apprehended by officers who responded and found him as the officers spread over the area and saw the driver and apprehended him.

There is a video that a certain group is circulating where officers tased a man. I checked into it. What the video does not depict is the suspect spitting on the officers. And not just spit but stuff in the spit. UNCONFIRMED BY ADMINISTRATION OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BUT WHAT I UNDERSTAND. So when looking at the video and seeing the comments, some people obviously have no clue as to ALL OF THE FACTS. Only their set of facts.

So in less than 7 days, in Dothan and Headland, about 7 law enforcement officers were injured. Some to include broken bones and other injuries.

We read and hear about officers injured and killed in the line of duty every day. Understand people, it is happening right here in Dothan and Headland.

Several weeks ago a man robbed, stole car, pointed a gun at people, shot at people or in the air, kidnapped, attempted to kidnap innocent people going about their routine life. IN one hour three or four different stolen vehicles.

A lone Dothan Police Officer came up behind the third or fourth stolen vehicle on Ross Clark Circle between Range and Kinsey Road intersection. The suspect was traveling south at 90 miles per hour. Somewhere between Webb and Ross Clark Circle and Burdeshaw and Ross Clark Circle the suspect decided to change lanes. The suspect started traveling south in the northbound lanes of traffic.

First try traveling from Range and Ross Clark Circle to Kelly Drive at 90 miles per hour and see how fast you get there. And the helpless feeling the officer had because it was impossible to do anything to stop the man. You could not get ahead of the suspect to stop traffic, could not get into a position to ram the suspect off the road, could not get into a position to shoot the suspect. You know this is not going to end good but absolutely nothing you could do.

The suspect rams a innocent vehicle and the driver's life was needlessly claimed. Then the suspect jumps from the wrecked vehicle and attempts to carjack two vehicles as he is fleeing on foot. The lone Dothan Police Officer had jumped from his police cruiser, not even turning his siren off, and literally chased the suspect down on foot. When the suspect was apprehended in front of Krystal the suspect was between the officer and Krystal. The officer was facing Krystal the suspect's back to Krystal.

If the suspect had fired the weapon on the officer the officer had nothing but his bullet proof to protect him. Nothing to protect the officer but his vest. And if the officer had to shoot the suspect the restaurant was behind the suspect. The officer had literally seconds to make lifetime decisions if he had been required to return fire or use deadly physical force. 

This officer literally placed his own life in danger in order to stop a one man reign of terror on people's lives. And the officer felt helpless when the suspect fled on the wrong side of the road because there was nothing he could do.

FOLKS - there is a war on law enforcement. These officers place their lives on the line for the safety and security of the citizens and guests in this community. What you read about in far away places...well it has arrived here!
