Wiregrass Honors Fallen Heroes at 17th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony Army Combat Veteran, Purple Heart recipient, and Stand-up Comedian Thom Tran Shared Stories of Military Life and Resilience 

 

DOTHAN, Alabama, May 29, 2023: Sunset Memorial Park presented the 17th Annual Wiregrass Memorial Day Ceremony, a day of remembrance of the lives and sacrifices of our veterans and celebration of the freedoms they fought to preserve on Memorial Day, May 29.

 

 The event started at 10 AM, and hundreds of the Wiregrass community participated in the ceremony by placing flowers on graves of veterans. US Army combat veteran and stand-up comedian Thom Tran, who received a Purple Heart for his service in Iraq, shared personal moments and stories about the military and life after his retirement from the Army. Since starting his comedy career, Thom created the GIs of Comedy tour, a group of combat veterans turned stand-up comedians. More photos can be found on Sunset Memorial Park’s Facebook Page.
