WIREGRASS, Ala. — Although all counties in Alabama held runoff races on Tuesday, only two Wiregrass counties had local runoff races on the ballot.
According to Henry County Probate Judge David Money out of 13,957 total voters in Henry County, 3,127 voted on Tuesday. That puts the voter participation rate at 22.4%.
Houston County Probate Judge Patrick Davenport, who oversees local elections, says that the total turnout in Houston County was 14.71% percent of the registered voters.
He says that’s a pretty good turnout considering there weren’t a lot of close top-of-the-ticket races. And there weren’t many contested local races.
Officials at the state level were predicting voter turnout in Alabama to be around 10-15%
