HOUSTON COUNTY:    June 8, 2024 @ 1:27 AM:    Houston County 911 dispatched Houston County Sheriff Deputies and Cottonwood Rescue to DHODGE Road to reports of a child found walking in the roadway.

Cottonwood Rescue checked the child and no medical attention was required.

Houston County Sheriff Deputies continued their investigation and Cottonwood Rescue was returning to service. As Cottonwood Rescue was preparing to leave the scene Houston County Sheriff Deputies yelled at the ambulance to return to the scene.

The 27 year old father was found unresponsive, blood from the mouth and fists clinched. A prompt examination, the patient was immediately loaded into the ambulance with assistance of Houston County Sheriff Deputies and transported to a local hospital.

Cottonwood Rescue requested mutual aid assistance from Dothan Fire and were intercepted on Highway 231 South. The patient was transported to a local hospital.

The father of the child experienced a medical emergency, no foul play, as Houston County Sheriff Deputies were talking to the mother of the child. All emergency units were on the scene when the father experienced the medical emergency.

The father was transported to the emergency department and prepared for immediate surgery.
