HOUSTON COUNTY: In the article describing the Houston County Commission failing to fund Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza for two years in the repairs for the Houston County Jail, a correction.
RSN stated that Alabama State Representative secured $ 1 million dollars for the necessary repairs through ADECA and ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell. That we researched more and need to correct.
Actually Alabama State Representative Paul Lee got the money placed in the State Budget through his work in the Alabama Legislature for one time allocation to repair the locks. ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell was not involved in this allocation.
ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell was involved in the $ 685,000.00 for helping the City of Cottonwood following the tornando that struck Cottonwood in January 2024.
Alabama State Representative Paul Lee then worked in the Alabama Legislature and secured an additional allocation of $ 750,000.00 as a one time budget item for the City of Cottonwood.
Then Alabama State Representative Paul Lee, Alabama Senator Donnie Chesteen, Alabama State Representative Jeff Sorrells, Alabama State Representative Steve Clouse, Alabama State Representative Rick Rehm were able to secure an additional $ 50,000.00, a total of $ 100,000.00 on top of that for Cottonwood. To a total of $ 1,535,000.00 for the City of Cottonwood following the January 2024 tornado.
That is the local representation and experience we have serving in the Alabama Legislature. Their experience pays off for our community. The local legislative delagation consists of Alabama Senators Donnie Chesteen and Billy Beasley, and Alabama State Representatives Paul Lee, Jeff Sorrells, Steve Clouse and Rick Rehm.
THANKS for all you do.
