COWARTS:   05:49 AM    Houston County 911 dispatched Cowarts Volunteer Fire Department, Ashford Volunteer Fire Department, Ashford Volunteer Rescue, Houston County Sheriff Deputies to a structure fire on Glenn Lawrence Road.

Houston County 911, at the time of dispatch, reported to responding units, smoke visible.

NOTICE:    Fire dispatched at 05:49 AM. The volunteer fireman were asleep or just waking up on this Sunday morning. The volunteer fireman have to get out of bed, dressed, into their personal vehicles and gas, to the fire station, open the doors, get the fire truck started, and travel to the scene.

05:58 AM    Cowarts Volunteer Fire Engine ( Chief ) arrives with the fire truck on the scene at 05:58 AM, less than 10 minutes from the time the call was dispatched.

On arrival, Cowarts Volunteer Fire Chief Roger Nall announced, heavy smoke visible, offensive attack, interrior attack.

The next fire engines to arrive, Ashford Volunteer Fire.

05:44 AM   Houston County 911 had dispatched Ashford Rescue to a medical emergency. Five minutes after dispatch to the medical emergency, Houston County 911 dispatched Ashford Rescue to the structure fire. 05:59 AM Ashford Rescue is transporting the medical emergency, emergency transport, and requesting mutual aid intercept with Dothan Fire Department Paramedics for advanced life support asistance. Ashford Rescue responded a second crew to Cowarts, but are equipped - ready and available to handle multiple calls at once. This morning was one of those times.

06:00 AM    Cowarts Volunteer Fire Chief Roger Nall announces there is a vehicle present at the house. Unknown if occupied so Chief Nall ordered an immediate interrior search.

Kinsey Police Sergeant Josh Waybright had responded to the structure fire. In his Kinsey Patrol Vehicle is his fire fighting equipment. Sgt. Waybright knew the home owners and notified they were not home and were out of town.

The combined fire departments, to include Kinsey Police Sergeant who is now in full fire fighting clothing, are working as one team and do a quick attack.

06:14 AM   Cowarts Volunteer Fire Chief Roger Nall announced, "UNDER CONTROL".

The home owners were notified and responded back to the residence. Alabama Power responded and cut the power.

Cowarts Mayor Randy Rowland responded and was on the scene shortly after the first Cowarts Fire Engine arrived.

Cowarts Volunteer Fire Chief Roger Nall contacted Houston County Volunteer Fire Association President Jason Reneau and Donna who is Secretary for the Fire Association. They responded and contacted Red Cross to make arrangements for the immediate needs of the family.

GREAT JOB to everyone who responded. The volunteers worked as one team for the common purpose of saving lives and property.

And to go from "in bed" or "just waking up", to on scene in 9 minutes from dispatch, going from home to the fire station, opening station, in truck, is awesome.

NOTE FROM RSN AND FACT CHECK ME:   Your elected Houston County Commission Chairman Brandon Shoupe, your elected Houston County Commissioners D1 Curtis Harvey, D2 Tracy Adams, D3 Ricky Herring and D4 James Ivey, forced former Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah out as EMA Director.

This is not current Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Mark Powell's fault, so nothing being critical of him. He has to follow commands of Chairman Brandon Shoupe and the four commissioners.

But Chris Judah got out of bed, responded to the fire. And Chris Judah contacted Red Cross and made arrangements for the fire victims to get immediate needs. And if need be, Chris Judah had resources lined up that would provide a motel room for at least two nights giving the victim a place to stay until they could get arrangements made.

TODAY, under the orders and directives of your Houston County Commission Chairman Brandon Shoupe and Commissioners, NO ONE from Dothan - Houston County Emergnecy Management responds or is involved. And two fires this weekend, not seen a Houston County Commissioner yet.

So THANK YOU to the VOLUNTEERS for caring enough to get out for FREE to look after the victims of the fire. And you the registered voters need to take your foots this next election and vote EVERY INCUMBENT HOUSTON COUNTY COMMISSIONER OUT OF OFFICE. Hermit the Frog will do a better job than any of these five.

The volunteers do it for free!!!
