HENRY COUNTY:   08:42 AM     Last evening there was a chase in Henry County that went all over Henry County. The chase ended up on Old Columbia Road ( Henry County Road 12 ) which runs from Highway 431 to Newville.


ALEA Trooper Carlton was successful on the deployment of spike strips on HIghway 431. After the suspect hitting the spikes is when he turned right on Henry County Road 12. Then Henry County Sheriff Department performed a successful pit and as the suspect wrecked he fled on foot.


Multiple agencies to include Headland Police, ALEA Troopers, Houston County Sheriff Department, Dale County Sheriff Department, both Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship and Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum, WASP ( Wiregrass Aviation Support Program) helicopter, K-9 track dogs ( I think from Ventress Prison ), Dothan Police responded and assisted in setting up a perimeter and effort to locate the suspcet.


About 2 AM the physical hunt was called and the suspect was not captured.


Henry County Sheriff Department knows who the suspect is and is obtaining arrest warrants for him this morning.


A Henry County Sheriff Deputy had stopped the vehicle. The driver had no driver license and was in possession of illegal narcotics. When the Deputy asked the suspect to exit the vehicle the suspect said can't do, jerked it in drive and off they went. 


The chase went south on Highway 431 then north, then right on a county road to Henry County Road 99, then back left on a county road, crossed Highway 431 to Henry COunty Road 173, then north to Highway 27, then towards Dale County, that is when Dale County Sheriff Department and Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum encountered the chase. The chase then went back into Henry County and traveled south on several county roads to then hit Highway 431 headed south.


ALEA Trooper Carlton had the spikes set up and as approached the spikes units on his rear backed off for the spike deployment which was successful. Then the suspect turned right on Old Columbia Road.


A long chase and carried on several roads. Speeds over 100 miles per hour and less than 100 miles per hour.


The suspect is not beleived to be dangerous, just STUPID.


Many agencies involved who did a good job.
