TAYLOR: In a joint agreement between Taylor Mayor Billy Snell and Rehobeth Kimberly Trotter and each respective Council Members, Taylor Volunteer Fire Chief Nathan Peterman and Rehobeth Fire - Rescue Chief Nick Floyd, Town of Rehobeth Operations Manager Todd Phillips and Joey Pilcher of Pilcher Ambulance, changes in EMS coverage for the Taylor area.
At 12:01 AM this morning Rehobeth EMS Division of Rehobeth Fire - Rescue began Emergency Medical Coverage for the Town of Taylor and Taylor Volunteer Fire response area.
In a mutual aid agreement over the years Mr. Joey Pilcher and Pilcher Ambulance has handled the Emergency Medical Coverage for the Taylor area. Since Rehobeth Mayor Kimberly Trotter took the reigns of Rehobeth, in working with Todd Phillips and Nick Floyd, with the support of Rehobeth Town Council, Rehobeth Fire - Rescue is a full time staffed service.
Mr. Pilcher said with that in mind it only makes sense that Rehobeth EMS assume that territory because the Town of Taylor and Town of Rehobeth join each other. And when Mr. Pilcher was approached with the idea from Todd Phillips he was very supportive. Mr. Pilcher's main objective is so the patient is provided quick, fast and responsive service. Pilcher stressed that Pilcher Ambulance always will stand in the wings to backup and support all of Houston County EMS Services and Houston County EMS Services always stands ready to assist Pilcher's.
The agreement with Pilcher Ambulance handling the Taylor Emergency Medical Coverage area goes back for years. That agreement was in place when both Taylor and Rehobeth Mayors took office. And both Taylor and Rehobeth administration's agree, with Rehobeth Fire - EMS being full time it only makes sense for the changes.
Taylor Volunteer Fire Chief Nathan Peterman and Rehobeth Fire - EMS Chief Nick Floyd work hand in hand. Each department already backs each other up on fire coverage. And the relationship is positive and both Chief's have a passion to do what is best for the patient and the cities butting up to each other residents with maintain quality medical care.
Since Todd Phillips first took over as Rehobeth Fire - Rescue Chief he has worked to get Rehobeth Fire - Rescue on solid financial footing. And during that work he has looked at making Rehobeth Fire - Rescue a full time service to better serve the residents of Rehobeth and the response area. After several years as Fire - EMS Chief, while also serving as a Captain with Dothan Fire Department, and Phillips felt there was a plan forward, Phillips handed the Fire - EMS Chief reigns over to Nick Floyd.
Later as things developed, and with Kimberly Trotter as Mayor, and her passion and desire to move the Town of Rehobeth forward, with detailed planning, the Town of Rehobeth took the Fire - EMS and placed it under the municipality. As things progressed, and Phillips with about three years left until he could retire from Dothan, Rehobeth made him an offer to come to the Town of Rehobeth full time. While Phillips serves under the Mayor, his duties range all over the spectrum. You will see him on the ambulance, the fire truck, the lawn mower, on water meter boxes, representing the Mayor when she us unavailable. And Rehobeth is on the map.
Same goes since Billy Snell has taken over the reigns of Mayor for the Town of Taylor. The town has progressed, grown, infrastructure has improved, they have built their own water treatment plant, improved Town Hall, improved for Senior Citizens, the walking trial, events in Taylor.
Both communities have worked closely together.
