DOTHAN:    10:03 AM   Dothan Commission Meeting was called to order by Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba.


The meeting was opened by prayer by Bethel Baptist Church Lead Pastor Dr. Ricky Plummer. Dothan Commissioner D4 John Ferguson led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.


The minutes from the November 4, 2022 meeting were approved.


COMMUNICATIONS FROM MAYOR AND COMMISSION


PROCLAMATION  declaring November as Hospice Month. Mayor Saliba said they appreciate Hospice and all they do. Anyone requiring Hospice has a special appreciation for the support services of Hospice. Day Springs Hospice spokesman thanked Mayor Saliba and the Dothan Commission for the proclamation.


DORSEY – expresses deepest condolences for the families on Persimmon Street. Thanked Billy Mayes and Todd McDonald and to Chief Benny for their work.


KIRKLAND – expressed deepest sympathy to the families in the weekend shootings. Commissioner Kirkland said his son was in the mall when the shooting occurred and is always in his mind.


BEDWELL – thanked all of the emergency services for what they did this past Saturday and Chief Benny for his work and he supports the police and fire for running into the danger.


FERGUSON – thanked Chief Benny and appreciates Dothan Police, Dothan Fire and all involved. Also Ferguson wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.


PEARCE – thanked for all who worked and ran into danger. Commissioner Pearce said all on the Commission to come up with solutions and put their heads together. Commissioner Pearce said Dothan has the best police department ever and will put them up against anyone. That Dothan is safe and the commission supports Chief Benny and will work with him.


CRUTCHFIELD – thanked Dothan Police Chief Will Benny and Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza for their work and running into danger. Commissioner Crutchfield supports them. Crutchfield said there is a lot of positive going on in Dothan and 1% causes bad,


SALIBA – said this is about each other, the family we call the City of Dothan. Saliba appreciates the workforce, the Police Department, Chief Benny and other emergency services for their running into danger and working.


COWPER – item number 20 will be removed and Dothan services not needed in Ocala and add a travel request that came in late. Dothan Officers will travel to Texas to pickup a new K-9. Next week is Thanksgiving and sanitation will not run on Thursday and Friday and new schedule which will be on the web site. The ICE is being made at the ICE skating rink on Friday, November 25th. The size of the rink has been increased. On December 5 the annual Christmas Tree Lighting will be held and Santa will be on hand at the Opera House.

CIRCLE CITY BREWING – Commissioner Pearce recused. No one was there to speak. Application approved.

COMMISSION AGENDA


12. REZONING property from R-1 to R-3. APROVED


13. REZONING property on Headland Avenue – APPROVED


14. REZONING property on Cloverdale Drive, Ross Clark Circle. APPROVED.


15.  Confirming costs of weed abatements and turn over to Tax Collector. APPROVED.


16. Accepting a $ 500.00 grant from McDonalds Program. APPROVED.


17. Accept agreement with United States Government for money seized. Commissioner Dorsey asked could get some of the money to target some kids.


18.  Approve $ 18,000.00 fee for design services for electrical.


19. Enter contract with Rehobeth for waste water disposal and treatment. Rehobeth Mayor Trotter was on hand for the Dothan Commission Meeting. APPROVED.


20. DELITE travel to Ocala because the City of Dothan was not needed.


21. $ 22,636,698.85 Approval payment of involves for November. APPROVED.


22. Award bids and other purchases over $ 15,000.00. APPROVED


23. Approved advanced travel request and added the Dothan Police Department travel to Texas.
