HENRY COUNTY - BARBOUR COUNTY: The Henry County Sheriff Department along with Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship has been out working.
Tonight Henry County Sheriff Deputies were behind a vehicle and activated the blue lights and siren. Well the driver apparently, confused, and thought blue lights and siren in a vehicle behind him meant GO! GO! GO! rather than pull over and stop.
And the driver apparently failed to realize that Attempt to Elude in now a FELONY OFFENSE in Alabama.
Well, we have found failing to follow the appropriate protocols in Henry County is not tolerated. So the chase was on.
Traveling on Highway 95 North, the vehicle pursuit goes into Barbour County from Henry County. The chase continued to Twin Lakes Lane. Finally the vehicle came to a stop and one of the two people in the vehicle then decided to try out his athletic ability.
Here is what the person found out. Since taking office Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship and the members of Henry County Sheriff Department have worked on their athletic ability. And the Henry County Sheriff Deputy, on foot, had a better athletic ability and literally ran the suspect down and took him into custody.
As part of the prize given the person attempting to outrun the Henry County Sheriff Deputy, he was given a pair of matching bracelets connected by a chain. This gift was not his to keep, but a temporary gift.
The suspect that remained with the vehicle was taken into custody while the athletic event of foot race was taking place.
In the vehicle Henry County Sheriff Deputies found, guess what? METH!!!!
Well, these two were provided transportation to one of the two motels in Henry County. One motel you pay when you check in. The other, located in downtown Abbeville, operated by Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship, had open reservations. The two, at no cost at check in, were checked in. At that time they lost their matching bracelets.
The bedding is not very comfortable. On Tuesday they will meet Henry County District Court Judge Derek Peterson. There they will have their first appearance.
GOOD JOB to the Henry County Sheriff Department. Most of them quit school … because they had recess and these Deputies DO NOT play!!! ( Just kidding on quitting school ).
But you better avoid Henry County, and when blue lights are on behind you, STOP or be STOPPED!!!
