HENRY COUNTY: 10:18 PM. Henry County Sheriff Department, to include Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship, have been in a long chase of a red SUV.
The chase hit several roads, hit Highway 431 and was southbound. The vehicle then hit a side road traveling east at speeds of 100 miles an hour, sometimes faster and sometimes slower.
The vehicle turned north on Henry County Road 99, then back towards Highway 431, then crossing over to Henry County 173. The vehicle then north on 173 from Newville then taking Highway 27 towards Dale County.
Dale County Sheriff units and ALEA Troopers joined. Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum was one of the units in the chase. The vehicle then turned north on another road, went back on Highway 431. The vehicle came back into Newville, then turned right on County Road 12 headed back into Newville.
While in the 600 block of Old Columbia Road ( County Road 12 ) law enforcement units pit the suspect vehicle. The driver then bailed on foot with officers in foot chase.
Houston County was set up on Highway 431 at Houston - Henry County line with spikes. When he turned and pit was made Lt. Reichert and Houston County Sheriff Deputies proceeded onto Newville to assist. Headland Police responded to assist and some Dothan Police units and Dale County Sheriff units.
Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum requested the WASP ( Wiregrass Aviation Support Program ) helicopter to go airborne and respond. K-9 track dogs have been dispatched.
