On May 31st Ozark-Dale County E911 received a call from a resident in
Level Plains who described witnessing sexual contact involving Colt
Bryan Lecuyer and a young child (under the age of 10) in the back of
Lecuyer's vehicle. Prior to the arrival of Level Plains Police the
suspect, who is a registered sex offender and federal supervised release
inmate, fled the seen in his vehicle.
DCSO Investigators began gathering information on the scene and a BOLO
was issued for Lecuyer. Shortly after 10pm an Auburn Police Officer
spotted the suspect's vehicle abandoned in the parking lot of the
Wal-Mart on South College St in Auburn. DCSO Investigators responded to
Auburn and with assistance of Auburn Detectives and Lee County Deputies
the suspect's vehicle was processed and returned back to Dale County. A
search was conducted for the suspect but he was not located at that time.
On June 2, DCSO Investigators learned that the suspect was on foot near
the Lee and Macon County line in the Tuskegee National Forest. Macon
County Sheriff's Office along with ALEA's Aviation Unit, SBI Agents and
the Alabama Department of Corrections K9 Tracking team from Kilby and
Ventress CF all responded to the area. Department of Corrections K9
tracking teams tracked the suspect for over four miles before taking him
into custody in a wooded area off County Road 57 in Macon County.
Dale County Deputies are responding to Macon County to take custody of
Lecuyer. He will be booked into the Dale County Jail and charged with
Rape 1st and Sodomy 1st.
"I would like to thank Sheriff Andre Brunson and the members of the
Macon County Sheriff's Office, DOC K9 Teams and ALEA for their
relentless effort in capturing Lecuyer. Also the Auburn Police
Department and Lee County Sheriff's Office for their assistance during
this investigation."
"Individuals like Lecuyer, who wish to prey on young children have no
place in our society. He is a convicted sex offender so this wasn't his
1st time victimizing a young child but I pray that it's his last. I
applaud the efforts of those in law enforcement who made it their
mission this weekend to put him back behind bars where he belongs!"
