ELBA:   At 4:13 PM Elba Police received a call and responded to a firearm assault somewhere in Elba. A lot of details at this time are not known.

What we do know, a former law enforcement officer, I believe of Elba Police Department - not positive that was the department - was shot today in Elba.

The retired officer, via TEXT RICKEY STOKES 334-790-1729, it is our understanding the retired officer is in serious condition.

Booked into the Coffee County Jail, Ozell McNabb, was booked this date at 7:50 PM. The offenses booked into the jail are Attempted Murder and Discharge a Firearm Into An Occupied Dwelling. According to the Coffee County Sheriff Jail booking the bonds are listed as zero. 

WE CAN NOT SAY IT IS BECAUSE, NOR CAN WE SAY IT IS NOT BECAUSE, THIS WAS A RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.  

This case is investigated by Elba Police Department. At 9:55 PM this evening we called Elba Police Department. The Chief of Police was gone and off duty so we were unable to get details.
