HOLMES COUNTY - A DeFuniak Springs man and Bonifay man were arrested after leading law enforcement officers on separate chases that took place earlier this week.
On Tuesday, May 12, a deputy with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling in the area of Highway 2 and Beaver Dam Road when he observed a subject driving recklessly on an ATV.
The deputy attempted to stop the driver, later identified as 31-year-old Robert Kyle Danley of Bonifay. Danley continued to travel on Beaver Dam Road before pulling over just south of Truett Circle, where the deputy was able to make contact.
Danley, who had an active warrant for child support out of Walton County, was arrested for the existing warrant and further charged with fleeing/attempting to elude law enforcement, and driving while license was suspended or revoked.
On Thursday, May 14, a deputy with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office attempted to initiate a stop on Line Road, off Highway 81. The driver, later identified as 30-year-old Donald Lamar Stanley, Jr. of DeFuniak Springs, refused to stop. Stanley accelerated, fleeing down Line Road and across Sandy Creek Road before finally stopping on Pleasant Ridge Road.
Stanley, who had an active Holmes County warrant for petit theft, was detained, and deputies conducted a search of the vehicle, locating two pipes and a syringe.
Stanley was arrested on the existing warrant and further charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing/attempting to elude law enforcement, driving with a suspended license, and attaching tag not assigned.
