GENEVA COUNTY:     5:55 PM   Geneva County 911 dispatched emergency units to 856 South County Road 49 near Geneva County Road 74 intersection to a critical motor vehicle accident.

Based on the nature of the call, Geneva County 911 auto launched Survival Flight to the scene. Geneva County 911 also mutual aid Town of Rehobeth EMS to respond.

Remember, county lines and city limits are only boundries that politicians fight over. Those lines mean nothing to emergency responders when attempting to save lives.

And that was the fact today.

Geneva County Sheriff Deputy responded and quickly established a landing zone for Survival Flight. ALEA - Trooper Perk responded to inestigate the accident. Geneva County Emergency Management Director Brian Smith also responded to the scene.

Slocomb EMS responded, Slocomb Fire responded, and not sure but think Malvern Fire and possibly Fadette Fire responded.

Three off duty Dothan Police Officers witnessed the accident. The three officers, Massenburg, Smith and Adams, jumped in with by standers and is reported to have removed one patient from under the truck. The three officers assisted Slocomb Rescue with the patient, helping keep them calm while being treated.

Slocomb Rescue trsansported one patient to the hospital, Town of Rehobeth EMS transported two patients to the hospital, and Survival Flight flew one patient from the scene to an unknown hospital.

All emergency responders worked together in lock step, with one goal in mind and that was to save lives. Geneva County Emergency Management Director, along with Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms, believes Emergency Management is a responder and not just a resources. Some Houston County Commissioners need to learn that.

EMA Director Smith plays a vital role and assists all emergency responders on the scene.

Slocomb Fire Chief Kyle Hovey has had double hip replacement and still working to get back out. Chief Hovey is so dedicated that he had his wife drive him to the scene to assist in scene management. THANK YOU CHIEF KYLE HOVEY for your decicated service to the citizens and guests of Geneva County.

THANK YOU  to the three off duty Dothan Police Officers, the by standers, and all emergency responders for what you do. Your work to place life as number 1 is noticed and appreciated.

TO DATE the EMS struggles with fuel, equipment and supplies. The Geneva County Commission Chairman Toby Seay and D-2 Commissioners Todd Brannon, D-3 Commissioner Bart Wilks, and D-4 Commissioner Wade Fulford will not communicate with the EMS and let them know future plans with the ARPA Money. 

D-1 Geneva County Commissioner Weston Spivey openly supports EMS and Fire and desires to give them answers and assistance. But from my observation, Tony Seay, Brannon, Wilks and Fulford keep things from Spivey because they are jealous of Commissioner Spivey in that he has vision, wisdom and the desire to be a true public servant.

To Geneva County Chairman Toby Seay, D-1 Commissioner Todd Brannon, D-3 Commissioner Bart Wilks and D-4 Commissioner Wade Fulford, the lives of the citizens and guests of Geneva County are only worth $ 19.23 per week. That is all these commissioners fund the EMS in Geneva County.
