NEWTON - DALE COUNTY:    11:02 PM    Ozark - Dale County 911 dispatched emergency units to reports of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Highway 231 near the Alabama Welcome Center.


Dale County Sheriff Deputies, Newton Police, Ozark EMS, Newton Volunteer Fire Department responded.


On arrival it was determined the pedestrian is a fatality. 


Ozark - Dale County 911 dispatched Dale County Coroner John Cawley to the scene.


Newton Police Chief Frankie Peterman is on the scene. Newton Police will be the agency in charge of the accident investigation.


Both northbound lanes of traffic on Highway 231 near the Alabama Welcome Center are closed at this time. 11:50 PM.
