DOTHAN: 11:09 AM. Dothan 911 dispatched a critical injury wreck on Third Avenue and Raymond Street. This intersection is Third Avenue south of Ross Clark intersection before the entrance to Grand Villa Trailer Park.
The person(s) reporting to Dothan 911 stated the female was screaming.
Dothan Fire Engine 4 ( Southside ), Battalion Chief Ash, Pilcher Ambulance and Dothan Fire responded.
When the emergency units arrived they found two vehicles with significant damage. The injuries were not as severe as thought when call was dispatched.
No patients were transported by the ambulance. If they go to the hospital they elected to go by private auto.
The entire Third Avenue outside Ross Clark Circle was closed for a period of time.
Dothan Police is in charge of the accident investigation.
THANKS to TEXT RICKEY 334-790-1729 for alerting me of this accident.
SIDE BAR: While I am glad there were no injuries to require transport by ambulance, this accident is an example of what happens on EMS. To serve the public adequately, and a requirement of a EMS Service which operates in the City Limits of Dothan, four ALS ( Advanced Life Support ) ambulance are required on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. The crew from Pilcher Ambulance responded and no one was transported to a hospital. That means no one to bill for services which means zero income from response to this wreck. Yet the cost of labor, fuel, vehicle, insurance and all cost of the operations continue.
Just a little information. This same set of circumstances, except the four ALS crews, is required for all of the EMS units.
