HOUSTON COUNTY: 12:08 PM. Early Sunday morning Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Houston County Sheriff Deputies to the old Florida Microfilm Building on Highway 231 South, south of National Peanut Festival.
The building owner had multiple air conditioner units on the building. Recently three of the air units were stolen. The owner installed camera systems on the building.
On Sunday the property owner was alerted by the cameras and observed the suspect stealing the air conditioner units or parts from the air conditioner units.
Houston County Sheriff Deputies arrived and it is alleged the suspect jumped in his vehicle and attempted to run over the deputies. Some of the deputies had exited their vehicles and was approaching the suspect when he is alleged to have attempted to strike the deputy’s.
A vehicle is considered is deadly weapon. When the vehicle is traveling towards a law enforcement officer who has zero protection, it then forces the law enforcement officer to result into the use of deadly physical force.
The person killed has been identified as 50 year old Perry Stringfellow, Jr.
Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza requested ALEA - State Bureau of investigation to conduct the investigation. That is normal procedure when there is an officer involved shooting.
