DOTHAN, ALABAMA:             The Bracket Draw for the 2023 Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic was held Wednesday, November 29th on WTVY News 4’s Live at Lunch program. The first round of games has been set and tournament play will begin on Tuesday, December 26 at 3:30 p.m. as the winners of the 2023 Turkey Classic, the Charles Henderson High School Trojans, take on the Ashford High School Yellowjackets. The Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic, sponsored by The Cochran Firm, Home Oil/Hobo Pantry, All-In Credit Union, Stockton Mortgage, and WTVY News will continue throughout the week until the tournament champion is crowned on Saturday, December 30 at 5:00 p.m. at the Dothan Civic Center. Please see the bracket attached with this Press Release. The Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic will take place December 26th – 30th at the Dothan Civic Center.

This year’s participating school teams are Abbeville, Ashford, Carroll, Charles Henderson, Dothan (2022 Tournament Champion), Dale County, Eufaula, Geneva, Geneva County, Georgiana, Headland, Houston Academy (2022 Tournament Runner-Up), Northside Methodist, Providence Christian, Rehobeth, and Wicksburg. Tickets are $6 per day and must be purchased daily at the Dothan Civic Center box office.

The proceeds from sponsorships, ticket sales, and concessions revenue minus expenses is dispersed to the 16 participating teams. The funds are awarded by how many games each team plays in the tournament. Since the start of the Hoops Classic $661,820 has been donated back to participating schools.
