SAMSON: 2:00 PM On or about July 24, 2023 Samson Mayor Clay King and members of Samson City Council placed then Samson Police Chief Jimmy Hill and his wife on administrative leave.
In the September 2023 meeting Mayor King and members of Samson City Council voted to terminate Jimmy Hill and his wife from employment with the City of Samson.
When Samson Police Chief Jimmy Hill was placed on administrative leave the Samson Mayor and Town Council named Chris Miranda as Acting Samson Police Chief.
Following the termination of Chief King the Mayor and Town Council appointed Chris Miranda as Samson Police Chief.
Less than one year later Chris Miranda turned in his notice. Next week will be Chief Miranda’s last week with the City of Samson. Applications are being accepted and the deadline is May 31, 2024 at 12:00 PM noon.
The Assistant Police Chief has already departed Samson Police Department and accepted another law enforcement job.
According to sources the 8 man department is soon to be down 4 officers, leaving only 4 to cover 24/7/365. At this time no reasons have been given for what drama is unfolding in the western city in Geneva County called Samson.
The City of Samson was established in 1905. The City of Samson is reported to be 3.63 square miles with a population of 1,874 people.
The City of Samson is the only EMS service that is volunteer. The Samson Rescue responds to about 800 calls per year, with 3,706 address points which covers 193 square miles.
Reports are the City of Samson is financially secure. UNCONFIRMED reports they have several millions of dollars in the bank. Again UNCONFIRMED.
But some drama is going on. Some report micro-management and not by the Police Chief.
