HENRY COUNTY:      2:14 PM.    At 1:30 PM tis afternoon friends, family and co-workers of Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox and Administrator Diane Killingsworth hosted a retirement celebration for Sheriff Maddox and Administrator Killingsworth.

The retirement celebration was held in the second floor of the Henry County Courthouse.

The courtroom was packed with friends, supporters, fellow law enforcement, many Sheriff’s and retired Sheriff’s across the Wiregrass.

Sheriff Maddox and Ms. Killingsworth did a surprise dance. I was late and it did not get it. Anyone with it TEXT RICKEY 34-790-1729.

Will Maddox has served as Henry County Sheriff for 16 years. Maddox was retired as a Alabama Game and Fish Officer. After being elected Sheriff Ms. Killingsworth came to work as an Administrator handling the financial records for the Sheriff Department.

Sheriff Will Maddox will leave office as the last Democrat elected as Henry County’s top cop. Maddox retired and did not seek re-election. Abbeville Police Chief Eric Blankenship sought election as Henry County Sheriff and is the first Republican to serve as Henry County’s top cop.

Sheriff Maddox will serve as Sheriff until midnight on the 16th Of January. At 12:01 AM on January 17th, 2023 Blankenship will assume the duties of Henry County Sheriff.

Sheriff Maddox has devoted the past 16 years as Sheriff. He has served with dedication and integrity. He has been loyal to the people he served.

Killingsworth has been loyal to Sheriff Maddox and the people of Henry County. She had done a great job in keeping the financial integrity of the Sheriff Department managed and providing to Sheriff Maddox what he needed in order to make informed decisions.
