HOUSTON COUNTY: 4:17 PM The Houston County Commission met this past Thursday, September 7, 2023 and today, September 11, 2023.
The meeting held on September 7 was an Administrative Meeting. That is where items are discussed and the decision is made to move to the regular agenda on the following Monday.
The meeting held today, September 11, 2023 is the voting meeting. Where the items discussed in the Administrative Meeting are placed on the agenda and the commissioners vote the items up or down.
As of 4:17 PM today the videos of either meeting are not on the web site.
The last meeting video on the web site is August 14, 2023.
The City of Dothan and the City of Enterprise has the video of the meetings up immediately following the meeting. But Houston County takes days and weeks.
The City of Dothan list their agenda on the web site. Under each agenda item is a hyperlink to the documentation concerning the items on the agenda. Not so with Houston County.
And at the meetings there is no documentation provided concerning the items on the agenda. Just the one page agenda. So the public does not know any details.
The reason this is pointed out is the Houston County Commission brags about transparency and accountability. The lack of the videos and documentation is proof the transparency and accoutability is words only and total lies.
The Houston County Commission passed the 2023 - 2024 operating budget. The first budget prepared in over 30 years without Mark Culver. And the document is not available for public view and the video of the meeting last Thursday and today is still not online.
Dothan and Enterprise does it. Why can this commission not?
