4:37 PM Motor Vehicle Accident With Minor Injuries - Saunders Road and Cottonwood Road

DOTHAN:    4:37 PM    While responding to a motor vehicle accident with injuries in the 6300 block of Cottonwood Road a Houston County Sheriff Deputy came on a wreck with minor injuries on Cottonwood Road and Saunders Road.

A two vehicle accident. Injuries were minor. No one was transported to a medical facility from the scene. Dothan Police is in charge of the accident investigation.

OF SPECIAL NOTE

Ferguson Wrecker was the wrecker service. Mr. Tommy Ferguson, owner of Ferguson Wrecker, called me and said the people from this accident are from Tennessee. There are no rental places at all in Dothan open. Even Napier Field Police Chief Jimmy Singleton called me and asked if I knew of any.

The travelers were meeting other family in Port Saint Joe for a family vacation. Tommy Ferguson was calling to see if I had anything set up as to what I have mentioned on the web site. That our community, Dothan-Houston County takes care of people traveling through when suddenly they are struck with a accident or event.

That is something during my tenure with Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management that Director Chris Judah and I did. We believed in a servant's heart and taking care of people in need. That ended when Houston County Sheriff Deputy Sergeant Ricky Herring was elected Houston County Commissioner. Herring said Emergency Management was a resource and not a responder and caused issues. He still causes issues.

So I told Tommy, no, nothing has been set up. But let me run by my office and clean out my truck and I will carry them wherever they needed to go. That I had my office phones tonight and plans, but these people who were guests in Dothan and Houston County, I want them to be impressed with our community and we take care of people.

This article is written in Blountstown Florida. I brought them down here, leaving at 6:19 PM and in Blountstown at 8:02 PM. The distance was 69 miles one way, 138 miles round trip. They attempted to pay me, Tommy Ferguson attempted to give me some money. It was refused. As I told the travelers, three of them, Dothan-Houston County takes care of people in our community.

These comments were not made to pat me on the back. They were made to say, that is one of the many things done in Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management. Things of service Houston County Commissioner/Houston County Deputy Sheriff Ricky Herring killed. But he is not doing it. While you get tired of me saying it, sorry, it is the truth. As well as causing issues to what was being built in service to others.

This is a need. On Saturday afternoon late, ZERO CAR RENTAL PLACES open in Dothan Alabama. To include at the Dothan Airport.

If you were traveling through a city and SUDDENLY - WHAM BAM - car totaled, what would you do?

And churches, this is the third time I have brought this up. Your vans and buses sit at your church. A need has been identified. Where are you? 

And Commissioner/Deputy Ricky Herring, WHERE ARE YOU?
