COWARTS:    5:35 PM    Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Cowarts Volunteer Fire Department, Ashford Volunteer Fire Department, Ashford Rescue and Houston County Sheriff Deputies to a vehicle fire.

The persons reporting to 911 stated the vehicle was near the residence.

The location was 198 Railroad Avenue in Cowarts. Truck on fire, 25 feet from residence.

Cowarts Volunteer Fire Department was quick on the scene, quick on the offensive attack, and the fire was under control quickly.

Cowarts Volunteer Fire Chief Roger Nall sent letters to every Cowarts resident expressing the need for more volunteer fireman. As a result of the letter, Cowarts got 10 new fireman to join.

While it is a volunteer job, it is exciting and fun, a job where you can work to save lives and property. It is a great reward when you know that you played an important role in saving someone's life or property.

But with that said, all the emergency responders can do is get in there and slug it out with every ounce of energy they have in order to attempt to save a life. But in the end, it is GOD and not man who makes the final choice and decision.

THANKS to the new men and women who joined Cowarts Volunteer Fire. All departments need the help and your help can be used.
