DOTHAN:    6:56 PM     To The Dothan Mayor and Commissioners - seeing as you probably have not been notified yet ... your newly appointed IT Director, Niki Kerns, had one of the IT Staff members escorted from the Dothan Civic Center Friday

The new IT Director of a week had the employee escorted from the Dothan Civic Center and would not even allow him to clean out his desk.

It is questionable if he was allowed back into the Dothan Civic Center for his determination hearing results today. The Assistant Personnel Director, Nicole and Niki - the IT Director possibly met the employee at the door. The determination hearing was possibly this Friday.

The Interiem City Manager, Randy Morris, and Dothan Personnel Director, Delvick McKay, did not open the application process for the IT Director to outside applicants. D3 Commissioner Bradley Bedwell questioned the hiring process.

Bedwell questioned it because the City of Dothan has spent $ 16 million dollars on software that does not work. And that has been since 2021. That caused the former IT Director, Jack Mason, to be shown the door. Of which I told the Mayor and some Commissioners that Jack Mason did not know what he was doing. They thought I was the stupid one but it turned out they were the slow learners who wasted $ 16 million and counting of your money.

Well D3 Bradley Bedwell was the only one with backbone to alert the public and to not be a "yes man" on the Commission. D2 Commissioner Aristotle Kirkland was going to oppose the hiring because of not opening to outside applicants. Kirkland had to miss the meeting the day of the vote.

The IT Director just hired last week as the Department Head for all of the computers in the City of Dothan has been employed with Dothan for about 2 years. So Ms. Kern has been in the IT Department since the wasting of $ 16 million dollars on software that does not work. So if she had the ability to manage the department then why is the software not working?

Ms. Kerns, who has family in Dale County, had been living in the Tampa Florida area before being employed with the City of Dothan. She was in the IT business with a construction company. It is my understanding that she has never been in goverment IT world.

In one week Ms. Kerns escorts one of the IT employees who has been with the City of Dothan for less than one year from the building. While UNCONFIRMED as to why ( we are looking through the garbage cans searching for why ) it is possible insubordination.

When the Mayor and Commissioners grow up, perhaps someone with the City of Dothan will inform you of what is going on. Until then, I will help you!!!
