TROY: Today the Troy Police Department team built under the leadership of Police Chief Randall Barr, Troy Mayor Jason Reeves and the Troy City Council were host to the community, family, friends and fellow law enforcement officers for a Retirement Celebration.
Troy Police Chief Randall Barr retires with 35 years of law enforcement service.
Beginning on April 10, 1989 at then Troy University. On May 30, 1991 Randall Barr began his service with Troy Police Department. Chief Barr wrote in his retirement letter there has never been a day when he did not want to put his uniform on and come to work.
Chief Barr has served as Chief of Police for Troy Police Department for the past 9 years. Chief Barr stated this has been the highlight of his career. Barr stated that he has been given opportunities that he never dreamed of for himself but God made a way for him to experience this incredible journey.
Chief Barr thanked his wife and sons for their support and sacrifices made over this 35 year journey. Chief Barr thanked past and present team members of Troy Police Department that he has worked shoulder to shoulder with during this journey.
A special thanks to the Troy Mayor and Council for their support and confidence. And a very special to the Troy Alabama community for the support they have shown to Officer Randall Barr and through the ranks to Chief Randall Barr and the team members of Troy Police Department.
A packed crowd of citizens, family, law enforcement came to honor Chief Randall Barr as he calls 10-7, 10-42 ENDING TOUR OF DUTY AND OUT OF SERVICE.
Chief Barr, thank you for your dedication and service. Being a law enforcement officer, and rising through the ranks to Chief, we can think of how many times you have been woke up, family events interrupted, plans suddenly changed, your beautiful wife expecting you home only to see you the next morning because something big happened. The awesome responsibility of protecting Troy Schools and even though there is Troy University Police Department, working hand in hand with them and Pike County Sheriff Department is protections of hundreds of students and facility in local schools and Troy University. It takes a partnership with all agencies to make sure there is safety.
So to your wife and sons, THANK YOU for allowing your husband, your dad, to dedicate his life to making Troy Alabama a safe place to live, go to school, work and travel through.
And Chief Barr, THANK YOU for your dedicated service. SERVICE ABOVE SELF - the example you set - or should I say ... the barr you set!!!
