DOTHAN: 8:16 pm At 6:19 PM Dothan 911 dispatched multiple Dothan Fire Engines to the 2000 block of Hodgesville Road to a structure fire.
Dothan Fire Engine 2 ( Lakewood ), Engine 4 ( Southside ), Engine 5 ( Eastside ), Rehab Truck from Lakewood, Pilcher Ambulance responded. Dothan Fire Battalion Chief Keith Gassiter responded.
As units were responding Dothan 911 updated it was a fire in the kitchen, residents were evacuating. Dothan 911 updated the homeowner busted a window and was attempting to put the fire out with a water hose.
Dothan Police closed Hodgesvile Road from East Wayne Road to Saunders Road.
Dothan Fire was quick on the attack in an offensive mode. The original of the fire seemed to be from grease cooking on the stove.
Dothan Fire remained in an offensive mode from about 50 minutes from the first engine on the scene until declared under control.
Dothan Fire Battalion Chief David Hasty who commands the Fire Prevention Division responded to investigate the cause of the fire.
Pilcher Ambulance crew jumped in helping Dothan Fire Rehab unit keeping fireman hydrated and cooled while fighting the fire.
