DOTHAN:   8:03 PM.   The women and men of the Dothan 911 Center which manage multiple emergencies at one time, with precision, have once again, handled a major emergency, which developed rapidly.

Dothan 911 staff dispatched a firearm assault in the 200 block of Fifth Avenue. Dothan 911 dispatched multiple Dothan Police units, Dothan Fire Engines and Pilcher Ambulance to the scene. Dothan 911 instructed the responding Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance units to stage until law enforcement to “stage” until law enforcement arrived and declared the scene safe.

Other information was coming into Dothan 911 by citizen reports, responding police units and intelligence information and everything was developing rapidly in the communications center.

Dothan Police Patrol made entry into the residence. As the officers entered they yelled on the police radio two victims down with multiple gunshot wounds, however continue to stage until entry is made into the residence.

In seconds later Dothan Police cleared the scene and instructed emergency units to enter the scene.

Shortly after Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance made entry they announced two patients deceased.

Dothan Police Chief Will Benny has multiple Dothan Police Criminal Investigators responding to the scene and in the area. Chief Benny also has Dothan Police Crime Scene Investigators responding to the scene.

Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza has Houston County Sheriff Patrol Lt. Reichert and multiple Houston County Sheriff Deputies in the area and assisting Dothan Police.

Multiple Officers in the area and on the scene. Dothan Police Criminal Investigation Lt. Ronald Hall is on the scene and commanding the investigation.
