MADRID: 7:58 PM. A Madrid Volunteer Fireman came across the Houston County Volunteer Fire - EMS radio and notified Houston County Sheriff 911 of a structure fire on B.J. Mixon Road in Madrid.
As units were arriving it was announced a barn fire, fully engulfed, spreading towards the residence.
The fire units dispatched and arriving on the scene, Madrid Volunteer Fire, Cottonwood Volunteer Fire. Town of Rehobeth Fire - Rescue, Cottonwood Rescue, Hodgesville Volunteer Fire, Southern Junction Volunteer Fire and Houston County Sheriff Deputies.
The flames could be seen in the air. Neighbors were in fear it was the home that was on fire. It was actually the Pole Frame Barn like structure that was fully engulfed.
The house sits a good distance from the road and space is limited on the number of fire engines which could get into the residence.
Alabama Power was notified and arrived at 8:51 AM. GREAT TIMELY RESPONSE on Alabama Power and thank you for the response.
THANK YOU to the men and women who donated their time and energies on a Friday night at 43 degrees to fight this fire.
