ASHFORD:     In 2010 Ashford started the quest to secure land to build a new fire station. Ashford Fire Chief Jimmy Posey has long felt a station and equipment needed to be on both sides of the railroad tracks which runs through Ashford.


A few weeks ago Ashford Fire Chief Jimmy Posey, the fine men and women of Ashford Fire Department, Ashford Mayor and some of the Ashford Town Council were present.


WHO WAS ABSENT was any member of the Houston County Commission. The D2 Commissioner is Tracy Adams who was not there. Houston County Commission Chairman Brandon Shoupe was not there. No member of the Houston County Commission, the County Administrator Peter Covert, or anyone representing the Houston County Commission.


Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza has just completed a SWAT Team call in Pansey and was headed there when a second stand off came in at Rehobeth. But Sheriff Donald Valenza thought enough of Chief Posey and his team that he asked Houston County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jeff Carlisle to stop and represent him.


Former D2 Houston County Commissioner Doug Sinquefield was there. While serving as D2 Houston County Commissioner Doug Sinquefield helped Ashford and worked for all of the people of D2. Even though not a current commissioner he respected Chief Posey and his team, the people of Ashford to be present on this big day.


Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams sent a crew from Dothan Fire Department to welcome the new station, Dothan Police Chief Will Benny Lt. Scott Owens, the CEO of Wiregrass Electric Brad Kimbro, Mr. Matt Parker of Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, John Ferguson D4 Commissioner for the City of Dothan, The owners of SCI Radio Mrs. Buie and Ryan Buie, and many others.


But I sincerely apologize that D2 Houston County Commissioner Tracy Adams, Chairman Shoupe , or no one else from the Houston County Commission even bothered to show up.


Again THANK YOU to Former Houston County Commissioner Doug Sinquefield who, even though not serving as a Commissioner, thought enough to be there.


SHAME! SHAME! SHAME on D2 Tracy Adams and all Houston County Commissioners. We have the worst group of County Commissioners ever.
