HOUSTON COUNTY: Tonight A-Advantage Bonding and Guaranteed Bonding teamed together and hit the streets looking for person who have failed to appear in court.
The teams hit several houses searching for those who have failed to appear. Some hits were successful and the persons were taken into custody and returned to the custody of the Sheriff or Police Chief.
And one place we went, the lady was hot and yelling and cursing to the top of her lungs.
Bondsman are responsible for people to appear in court at the time and place of court. If they fail to appear in court, the bondsman search and attempt to locate those persons. There is no intent to harm any of the defendants, and the only intentions are to take them into custody and surrender them to the custody of the Sheriff or Police Chief. Wherever their case originated from.
Many not appearing are not totally the fault of the defendants. One person tonight, it took 22 months from his initial arrest until indicted by Grand Jury. So for 22 months his case just sit there.
But that is the fault of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, The case can not be presented to Grand Jury until the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences scientific analysis is complete with the conclusion it was illegal drugs.
That causes a delay and COVID has hit the court system hard.
All of the Judges are just, well pissed, because of the backlog of cases they have due to COVID. They are fighting to get cases in the backlog heard and handled. But each time they make 1 step forward COVID forces 12 backwards.
The bondsman run into issues because the jails can not take some, and the defendants are not in the National Crime Date Base because due to COVID they will not extradite.
All are working in conjunction with each other. Recently A-Advantage Bonding and Guaranteed Bonding joined teams and traveled to Mississippi and Cleveland Ohio in apprehensions.
And yes, I, Rickey Stokes, was in the field with the group. Bullet proof vest and AR weapon.
Remember, I chase politicians and convicts. The difference is, the convicts are not as big of liars as the politicians!
IF YOU HAVE A CASE PENDING, a good suggestion is contact your bondsman, your attorney and they Circuit Clerk or Municipal Clerk and see where your case stands. And the number one way someone gets stuck in jail is they do not keep their address current. Therefore they do not get notice.
If you do not call, you will end up in a transport bus riding for days or weeks while in belly chains, handcuffs and leg irons until you reach back to Houston County.
