OKALOOSA COUNTY:A homeless man has been charged with felony battery after a woman running on Okaloosa Island near Princess Beach says he confronted her and touched her inappropriately.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responding to the call followed a set of footprints and found 50-year old Erik Lucas hiding in a bush, wearing the same clothing described by the victim.
The woman says she was running on the beach for exercise around 5 p.m. when Lucas confronted her and asked for a picture, which she declined. She says he then smacked her on the buttocks and ran away.
Lucas had a prior battery conviction in Okaloosa County from September 2022.
