DOTHAN POST – A pursuit ending in Dale County led to the arrest of a Ozark man.
At approximately 8:42 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2000 Kawasaki ZX750 traveling eastbound on County Road 34 at a high rate of speed on the wrong side of the roadway.
The driver who was later identified as, Michael Kirkley, 22, refused to stop. Kirkley did not stop at the stop sign on Andrews Ave and County Road 34 and continued traveling southbound on Campground road.
While still traveling at a high rate of speed and on the wrong side of the roadway, Kirkley turned left onto Lakeview Road. Troopers then blocked off the roadway at Gunter drive and Lakeview road where Kirkley collided into the front end of a Trooper’s patrol vehicle. The stop and arrest was successful as a result effort by ALEA’s Highway Patrol. Nothing is available as Troopers with ALEA Highway Patrol Division investigates.
